St. Louis Mills, the largest outlet and value retail shopping destination in Missouri, in conjunction with Missouri Center for Education Safety and School Reach / Cyber Bullying Hotline, will present “No More Bullying” on Saturday, August 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This first-ever anti-bullying event at St. Louis Mills will feature guest speakers Tina Meier, from the Megan Meier Foundation and Alex Boles, from the Unwritten Letters Project, as well as an autograph signing by Rams Alumni.
“St. Louis Mills is proud to support our local community, and this effort is a great opportunity to raise awareness on the national issue of bullying,” said Emily Zimmermann, assistant director of marketing and business development at St. Louis Mills. “We will continue to create new and positive ways to support local families and important causes within our community.”
St. Louis Mills’ No More Bullying will be held inside iceZONE skating rink located near Entry 3 and will include the Radio Disney road crew who will entertain ‘Disney Style,’ providing fun entertainment, interactive games, prize giveaways, dancing to Radio Disney tunes and more throughout the event. Plus, students will have an opportunity to sign a “Pledge Wall” that will be displayed at St. Louis Mills after the event with a promise to bring awareness and support to other students.
Guest speakers Tina Meier and Alex Boles will take center stage to advocate about the traumatic effects caused by bullying. Their frank and open discussion will engage attendees and further the call to action to stop bullying:
*Tina Meier, mother of Megan Meier who committed suicide just 3 weeks before her 14th birthday, will tell the story of how her daughter was cyber-bullied on Myspace by lifelong family friends. Since 2007, Tina has strived to bring awareness, education and promote positive change to children, parents and educators in response to the ongoing bullying and cyberbuylling in children’s daily environment.
*Alex Boles, who shares not only her own story of being bullied, but the stories of many children that are bullied daily. Her website, Unwrittenlettersproject.com, allows children to post letters online to the bullies in their life now or the ones who have bullied them in the past. Her unwritten Letters Project continues to give bullied children the knowledge that they are not alone and are capable of anything.
