CRT is a multi-disciplinary, geographically specific team of service providers and community members working together to serve students and families within the District. The goal of CRT is to remove barriers to student success. CRT refers families to community resources and, when possible, provides direct assistance when existing resources are not accessible.
According to CRT, the following schools gave donations (in-kind or cash) and participated in two District fundraisers, Bowling over Poverty and the Biggest Loser Challenge, earning Hazelwood Has Heart Awards and will receive Golden Heart Certificates:
The HSD Learning Center; Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West early childhood education centers; Hazelwood East High School; Hazelwood East and Hazelwood North middle schools; and Cold Water, Jury and Russell elementary schools.
CRT recognizes the caring, giving support of HSD staff and students, explained District social workers. This year, CRT also awarded Russell Elementary School its top honor – the Hazelwood Has Heart floating banner – because of the more than $700 in donations the school received.
The following schools met two of the three criteria and will receive Silver Heart Certificates: Hazelwood Central High School; Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood Northwest and Hazelwood Southeast middle schools; Hazelwood East Early Childhood Education Center; and Garrett, Grannemann, Keeven, Lawson, McNair and Twillman elementary schools.
The following schools/buildings listed will receive Bronze Heart Certificates: ACE Learning Centers; Armstrong, Arrowpoint, Barrington, Brown, Larimore, Townsend and Walker elementary schools; Elementary Special Programs; Hazelwood West High School; and Hazelwood West Middle School.
The awards will be presented at the beginning of the school year, which starts August 13.
