SPRING TO DANCE® Festival Returns Memorial Day Weekend

Returning for its 11th year, the Emerson SPRING TO DANCE® Festival closes Dance St. Louis’ 2017-18 season over the Memorial Day Weekend, Friday & Saturday, May 25 & 26. The Touhill Performing Arts Center, a collaborative partner, hosts both nights of the Festival.

Noted for its many dance styles, renowned dance troupes, and the affordable ticket prices, the Emerson SPRING TO DANCE® Festival brings together more than 25 professional dance companies from across the country and beyond for two unique, exhilarating nights of nonstop dance.

This year’s vibrant dance extravaganza features companies come from as far as Havana, Cuba, Toronto, Canada, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Memphis, and St. Louis. The dancers will perform a range of dances, including ballet, modern, contemporary, flamenco, and hip-hop.

The festival begins at 5:30 p.m. each night in the Touhill’s Terrace Lobby with St. Louis-area community dance groups leading interactive demonstrations and performing various dance styles.

At 6 p.m. performances by the festival’s featured professional companies begin in the Lee Theater, followed by the 7:30 p.m. mainstage performances in the Anheuser-Busch Performance Hall. Premier companies include Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, Wewolf, and Project 44. Ballet highlights include performances by principal dancers from Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, National Ballet of Cuba, Houston Ballet, and The National Ballet of Canada.
