Mayor Schneider: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL 4th of JULY CELEBRATION IN FLORISSANT

Mayor Thomas P. Schneider said Friday that the City of Florissant hosted another successful July 4thconcert and fireworks display that was enjoyed by everyone who attended or could see from distant vantage points.  Mayor Schneider thanked  Gateway Fireworks Display for working to take every precaution for a safe pyrotechnic show.  Gateway has been in existence since 2004 and is the fastest growing fireworks exhibitor in the Midwest.

Mayor Schneider made the decision to move forward with the event when he was convinced that all the necessary precautions would be made to insure that there would be no problems and that our residents would be safe.

The Mayor also thanked the Fire Chief Robert Corey of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District and his staff for providing their pumper trucks to standby on site and was pleased that they also used their equipment to help keep the young kids cooled off and for watering down the field prior to the fireworks display.

He also thanks Police Chief Bill Karabas and the officers that worked the event, Director of Parks and Recreation Ron Veach and Assistant Director Todd Schmidt and staff for all of their hard work and Gary Gaydos our Theatre Manager for another outstanding job arranging the first of our 9 summer series of free outdoor concerts.

The 4th of July celebration was kicked off by the Northwinds Concert Band which was lead by the Director Larry Marsh.  The band played and honored all military branches. Mayor Schneider requested that all veterans in attendance stand for their service branch hymn.  T The next free summer concert series event will be on Saturday, July 14 “Bastille Day” with Fanfare featuring Kittie Moller.  For more information concerning more upcoming summer concert series and other events, please visit our website at  HYPERLINK “http://www.florissantmo.com” www.florissantmo.com.
