CASH FOR CANS PROGRAM RUNS THROUGH OCTOBER
Florissant is participating in the national Cans for Cash recycling program. Mayor Robert Lowery stated that there are only two cities in Missouri participating.
The contest will award twelve $5,000 awards to participating cities that recycle the most cans. The collection period is from Oct. 1-30.
The mayor urges all Florissant residents to join the challenge by bringing their aluminum cans to the city’s recycling center or any other aluminum collection site with city limits.
The city has operated a recycling center at St. Ferdinand Park for more than ten years. The center collects aluminum cans, glass, cardboard, tin cans, paper products, and cardboard. There is no charge for residents to use the service.
