How Should Rams Handle Rest of this Bleak Season?

BY RANDY GARDNER

I really thought that I could just take last week’s column of all of the bad news about the Rams and copying it to this week, but when I looked at it, it just wouldn’t have been right because the Rams at least scored 31 points that Sunday.

This past Sunday they scored 3, that’s right 3 lousy points. What has happened to this team?

For awhile we could look at and say there is hope for a win but now we are looking at 0-8… maybe. The Rams play Seattle this week that will probably end up in the L column and maybe we have a chance against the Browns at home.

What can they do? There are so many injuries and the list just keeps getting
longer? Is there any chance of salvaging this season?

Do we even take a chance and put Steven Jackson back in the lineup? Do we keep Marc Bulger out and just let whatever happens happen? All questions that folks have asked me over the past week.

Does it matter what the record is if the Rams can’t make the playoffs? Should the players heal up for an entire year and then wait until next year? Maybe, at least with that they have an excuse for not winning..

I don’t even know where to go with the rest of Rams talk as they need one game where they can get over a hundred on the ground and maybe a few long passes downfield. What is there to lose— open it up and let loose and play some in your face football. We can’t throw deep though because our QB has one or two steps to drop back and then he is pounded.

Did you see the camera fall onto the field in Seattle last week? The only thing I can see is if the camera falls again before the game starts, it might get called off and the game would be called a draw, at least it wouldn’t be a loss.

Poor Turn-out for Poorly Promoted World Cup

Sorry to be so negative this week, but what a lousy showing out of St. Louis soccer fans as we only got a little over 10,000 people at the Women’s World Cup game at the Dome last weekend. The U.S. team won that game 5-1, so there was a lot of excitement and scoring but I thought this was a better soccer town than that.

This makes me worry about that MLS franchise coming to the area. On the other side of the coin, there wasn’t much promotion for the game at all.

Tuesday, I had a chance to see Nextel Cup Driver Jimmie Johnson test at Gateway International Raceway. After testing we had a chance to talk with Jimmie and I asked him about the relationship with Jeff Gordon, fierce competitor and teammate now, He said, that they are actually really good friends off of the track.
Their teams share information as they test and that they are proud to be 1& 2 in the Chase for the Cup. Next week, I will let you know what Kasey Kahne and Elliot Sadler had to say after their testing on Wednesday.
