McCluer North High School is one of eight sites in Missouri that will host Class Four District Cross Country, for both boys and girls, this Saturday.
Starting time for the Class Four, District Four meet was not available at press time. Joining McCluer North will be Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer High, Parkway North, Pattonville, Ritenour and Riverview Gardens (boys only).
The top four teams and runners that finish in the top 30, boys and girls, will advance to Sectional competition Oct. 27, site and time unavailable at press time. Qualifiers from District Four will compete against runners from Class Four, District Three which includes three all boys high schools — Chaminade, DeSmet and St. Louis University High – and three all girls high schools — Incarnate Word Academy, Nerinx Hall and St. Joseph’s Academy.
Meanwhile Spanish Lake Park will be the site for the Class Two, District Two Meet, Oct. 27, time unavailable at press time. Lutheran North will serve as the host school and participating schools include Cardinal Ritter and the debut of Fort Zumwalt East, which opened its doors in August and is just east of the St. Peters’ Rec-Plex. Also McCluer South Berkeley will be at Wilmore Park in St. Louis on Oct. 27 for Class Three, District Three and will compete in the girls’ race against Rosati-Kain.
The top four teams and runners finishing in the top 30 in Sectional competition advance to the State Meet, Nov. 3, Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City. Also the top two teams and runners in the top 15 in Class Two, District Two and Class Three, District Three will also be at Oak Hills, Jefferson City, on Nov. 3.
Last Saturday in the Suburban North Conference Meet at Hazelwood East McCluer North boys and Pattonville girls were the team winners. Individually CJ Johnson, Hazelwood East, won the boys meet while the top area school finisher, Joanna Joye, Hazelwood West, finshed fifth, behind four Pattonville girls.
Girls Volleyball Districts are scheduled to start no earlier than Monday but must be finished by Oct. 25. The Sectionals are Oct. 27, which includes the Quarterfinal round. The State Semifinals (a round-robin event) and finals (championship and third-place matches) will be Nov. 2-3 at the University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University), Warrensburg.
Actual Dates, seeds and pairings for the district tournaments were not available at press time McCluer High will host Class Four, District Six with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North and Riverview Gardens competing. The winner plays Oct. 27, 1 p.m. at Pattonville against the District Seven winner and Pattonville is in District Seven.
Incarnate Word Academy is in Class Four, District Five, at Parkway North and that winner faces the District Eight winner, Oct. 27, 2:30 at Pattonville. The Quarterfinal game, Oct. 27 at Pattonville, is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Trinity Catholic will host Class Three, District Five with Lutheran North, Jennings, Cardinal Ritter, Central Visual & Performing Arts (now being housed at the old Southwest High), Miller Career Academy and Soldan International Studies competing. The District Five champion faces the District Eight winner Oct. 27, 4:30 at St. Charles High and that winner faces the District Six champion or the District Seven champion Oct. 27, 6 p.m. at St. Charles High.
One school not competing is North County Christian School because NCCS is not a member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association. NCCS finished first in the Twin Rivers Christian Athletic Association with a 7-2 record and, as of last Saturday, was 22-8-2 overall.
