Incarnate Word, Lutheran North Seeded First As Hosts In Girls Soccer

Incarnate Word Academy and Lutheran High School North are hosting District Girls Soccer Tournaments as the top seeds in their class and district.

Incarnate Word will host Class Three, District Four and opens play May 15, 4 p.m. against the winner of the May 14, 4 p.m. game between fourth-seeded Riverview Gardens and fifth-seeded Normandy. Meanwhile second-seeded Ritenour plays May 15 at 5:30 against third-seeded Hazelwood East, who was awarded a forfeit win over sixth-seeded Roosevelt on May 2, reason not given.

The Class Three, District Four championship game will be May 17; 4 p.m. at IWA and the winner hosts the Class Three, District Three winner in a Sectional May 22, time to be announced.

IWA has won 27 consecutive district titles in the 27 years the Missouri State High School Activities Association has sanctioned the state championships. IWA has won nine state championships, most by any MSHSAA member school in girls’ soccer. Last year IWA finished fourth in state Class Three.

Lutheran North hosts Class One, District Five, a three-team tournament, and will play in the May 14, 5 p.m. championship game. The opponent will be determined May 12 in a 10 a.m. game when second-seeded North Technical plays third seeded Northwest Academy of Transportation and Law. The district winner goes on the road for a May 22 Sectional at the winner of Class One, District Six.

McCluer North will serve as Class Three, District Five and most of the games will likely be at the Florissant Civic Center including the May 16 Championship game at 5:30. That district winner goes on the road for the May 22 sectional game at the winner of Class Three, District Six.

The tournament begins May 12 with an 11 a.m. game between fourth-seeded Hazelwood Central and fifth-seeded McCluer and the winner plays top-seeded Pattonville, May 15 at 4 p.m. Also on May 15 at 4 p.m. second-seeded Hazelwood West plays third-seeded McCluer North and the May 15 winners play May 16.

St. Charles High is the host of Class Two, District Six and the top seed in the district despite having a losing record while second seeded Trinity Catholic is the only team in the district with a winning record prior to May 8. St. Charles, (7-10-2 prior to May 3) was a 4-1 winner May 25 at Trinity (11-7 prior to May 8).

Play begins May 14 as St. Charles plays fourth-seeded McCluer South-Berkeley at 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. game between Trinity and third-seeded Jennings. The May 14 winners play May 16 at 5 p.m. and the district champion hosts the Class Two, District Five champion May 22, time to be announced.
