District Tennis, Golf Open October

Girls Tennis District Tournaments begin the road to Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield, with ream competition on Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 20 with the crowning of state singles and doubles champions.

The state team championships take place Oct. 18. Singles and Doubles start State competition Oct. 19.

McCluer North will host Class Two, District Five with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Incarnate Word Academy, McCluer and Riverview Gardens in the field. Meanwhile; Hazelwood West, Francis Howell North, Parkway Central, Parkway North, Pattonviille and Ritenour are in Class Two, District Six, hosted by Parkway North and that district will host the individual sectionals, Oct. 8-10, featuring the top two singles players and doubles teams from Districts Five and Six. The District team champions will compete in team sectionals, Oct. 13 at the winner of District Seven.

In Class One Lutheran North will host District Four, and the individual sectionals, with Crossroads College Prep, Metro, Soldan International Studies, Sumner and Vashon competing. The District Team champion will compete in the Team Sectionals at the winner of District Three.

Team seedings and pairings are to take place between Sept. 19 and 26. Singles and Doubles seedings are to be held prior to the start of district play.

GIRLS GOLF — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, Incarnate Word Academy, Kirkwood, Nerinx Hall, Ritenour, St. Joseph’s Academy, Ursuline Academy and Webster Groves will be in Class Two, District Two, Oct. 3, 9 a.m. at Aberdeen Golf Course, Eureka. The top two finishing teams and the top 15 golfers from teams finishing below second place will compete Oct. 8 at Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Course but teams that qualify four or five individuals to sectionals can qualify to compete for sectional team points.

Meanwhile, Pattonville will be in Class Two, District Three Oct. 1, 9 a.m. at Dardenne Prairie Golf Course and the sectional qualifiers will be at Tanglewood Golf Club, hosted by Jefferson City, Oct. 8

The top two sectional team finishers and the top 15 sectional golfers from teams finishing below second place will go to State, Oct. 15-16 at Dalhousie Golf Course, Cape Girardeau. Teams that send at least four individuals will qualify to compete for team points.
