Florissant Council Gives Final Okay to Wal-Mart

Just before the new city council took office Monday night, the Florissant Council gave final approved to the Wal-Mart project calling for a 24-hour store. It will located off North Lindbergh bordering Seville Drive on the part of the site that once housed Zykan Haulers. The measure approving Wal-Mart passed by a 7-2 vote.

Councilwoman Karen McKay, in her last meeting, thanked the council and other city employees for reviewing every issue on this project. “This is going to be one of the best buildings built in the city,” she said.

Later Councilwoman Jackie Bond Pagano took the oath of office filling McKay’s seat. Pagano had defeated the 12-year council veteran (McKay) in the April elections, Four other incumbents were also sworn in: Ben Hernandez, Tim Lee, Joe Eagan and Keith Schildroth. All but Hernandez had run unopposed
