Hazelwood West and Trinity Catholic have two things in common with high school baseball through April 15

Both teams were 7-4 and both are second in conference play. Hazelwood West, as of April 15 was 5-1 in the Suburban North Conference while Trinity, as of April 15, was 5-2 in the Archdiocesan Athletic Association.

Hazelwood West, prior to a rematch with Ritenour, April 17, has defeated  McCluer, 13-3, McCluer North, 6-0, Hazelwood Central, 9-4, Riverview Gardens, 9-4, and Ritenour, 10-0, in Suburban North Conference play. West has a conference loss to Pattonville, 5-4, and a non-conference loss to Kirkwood, 6-8.

In the Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament Hazelwood West took fourth place. In Pool B West defeated Oakville, 2-1, lost to Mehlville, 6-0, and defeated Affton, 5-2. In the third-place game West lost to St. John Vianney, 14-1.

Hazelwood West hosted Fort Zumwalt West, April 18, 4:15 and McCluer, April 19, 4 p.m.

Trinity, in AAA play, has defeated St. Mary’s twice, 3-2 and 7-6, defeated Bishop DuBourg, 11-7, John F. Kennedy, 14-5, and Lutheran-St. Charles County, 10-6, while losing twice to St. Dominic, 10-0 and 13-0. In the North County Classic Trinity took fourth place defeating Hazelwood East, 10-0 while losing to tourney champion Hazelwood Central, 3-1, and McCluer, 2-0.

In a non-conference game Trinity won 4-2 over Lutheran North. Trinity had a rematch with McCluer April 16 then played Cardinal Ritter, April 17 at Ritter and April 23, 4:15 at home (behind Christ-Light of the Nations School-formerly Our Lady of Loretto). Trinity opens the Lutheran North Tournament April 19 with a 4:15 game at Orchard Farm.

Hazelwood West Statistics: Offensively Connor Manis has a .719 slugging percentage with four triples while scoring 10 runs, Matt Leinberger has 10 runs on 14 hits including five doubles and six stolen bases, Jared Fosdick has nine runs batted in, Oday Alyatim has five walks. Pitching wise Jared Fosdick has three wins and 40 strikeouts while Brendan Fosdick has a1.14 earned run average.

Trinity Statistics: Offensively Eric Modde is hitting .429 but has a .536 slugging percentage with 12 hits and 11 runs batted in, Tommy Koerper and Mike Hardin each has 12 runs scored  but Hardin has 11 walks and 13 stolen bases. Pitching wise Nick Payeur has three wins and 15 strikeouts, Modde also has 15 strikeouts and Tyler Bayer has a 1.75 earned run average. In Fielding Sean Hennessey has 71 put outs while Koerper has 25 assists.
