Hazelwood Offers Three Different Egg Hunts

The Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Department is offering Easter fun for people-and dogs-of all ages. Three different egg hunts for adults, kids, and canines are scheduled during the last weekend in March and on Saturday, April 7. These events will be held at White Birch Park.

ADULT EASTER EGG HUNT

Adults, age 21 and over, can let their inner child out at this hunt on Friday, March 30. Registration begins at 7 p.m. and the hunt begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the Hazelwood Community Center and Civic Center East.

Participants should bring flashlights and bags for their eggs. A limited number will contain prizes such as electronics, a bike, fire pit, Smokey Joe barbeque grill and a Craftsman’s tool kit. Guests can bring beverages (no glass containers), coolers, and lawn chairs. A fireworks display brings everything to a climax at the end.

HUNT FOR THE HOUNDS

Man’s best friend can hunt, too, on Saturday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. The fee is $12 per pet. Eggs will be filled with dog treats or prizes. All canines must be kept on a non-retractable leash.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA

This is Hazelwood’s most popular Easter event of the year.  Children, ages 10 and under, hunt in five different areas for various age groups. Admission is FREE. The 2012 event is scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. Kids will be able to enter a raffle for one boy and girl bike per age group as well as to meet the Easter Bunny. After, Piwacket Children’s Theater will present “Westward Ho!” a puppet show about responsibility in the Community Center gymnasium.
