Old Town Fall Festival is Sunday Oct. 9

   The 14th Annual Florissant Old Town Fall Festival, one of the two biggest events in Florissant, is set for Sunday Oct. 9, from noon-5 p.m. Florissant Old Town Partners has teamed up with the City of Florissant, the Missouri Arts Council and the Regional Arts Commission to co-sponsor the festival. The festival will be held on rue St. Francois St.

In the past few years over 35,000 visitors attended the weekend events and sponsors expect this to be the biggest and best ever. This event covers eleven full blocks from Florissant Road to St. Ferdinand Shrine. All side streets will be blocked off to accommodate the festival.  The street will be filled with activities for everyone with over 150 booths including games to play, sale items, food and beverages.

Old favorites will return like the Chili Cook-off, the wine garden, pumpkin decorating, silent auction, Kincaid Puppets, jewelry making and entertainment on almost every block. VFW Post 4105 on rue St. Francois will be selling pulled pork sandwiches and plates and have ten raffle baskets.

Fido Follies

 

 

Best Costume winner (2010) 

Everyone’s favorite event the Fido Follies returns and will be in a new location at the Government Center, at 1055 rue St. Francois at the very top of the street. Water bowls will be provide on every block so you can bring your dogs (properly licensed and leashed of course)  and enter them in to the dog show. Fido Follies categories will include: smallest dog, best kisser, best costume, best trick and largest dog to name a few. Dogs must have proof of vaccinations and shot record to enter the contest. Dogs must be kept on a leash.

Art Festival Added

   The art festival sponsored by St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley it will be located up at the top of St. Francois.  This event continues to grow with exhibits by artists, art activities and demonstrations through out the day.

The children’s corner returns with free activities including chalking, painting and collage. The Northern Arts Council and the Women’s Caucus for Art will also showcase work by local artists. KCFV from Florissant Valley will be broadcasting live from the festival throughout the day.

The police in conjunction with MOCHIPS, will be offering child identification kits free of charge in the Florissant Council Chambers at City Hall.

    More than 60 crafters will show off their talents with hand crafted works.

Entertainment Includes Billy Peak

 

Billy Peak

Billy Peak will perform at 1 and 3 p.m. on the Lawyers Building lot in the 100 block of St. Francois on the bandshell.

Entertainment over 11 blocks on St. Francois will include: the Dixie Rhythm Kings, Cookie the Clown, Dan Sproat,  Pat and Anna Auberry, Carol Brady-Story Teller, North County Big Band, George Gerules the Bag Piper, Seven Weeks After, Spent, The Buckhannon Brothers, and Bryson Gerard.

Free Shuttle

   The FLERT bus will provide transportation, block to block, on St. Catherine St. for those who have difficulty navigating the St. Francois hill.  St. Catherine is one street over from St. Francois.  The stops will be marked.
