Retired Rosary High School Basketball Coach Bob Strub Dies at Age 83

Gerald Robert “Bob” Strub, who coached high school basketball at Rosary High School, predecessor to Trinity Catholic High School, died Aug. 12 in St. Charles County at the age of 83.

Coach Strub (1928-2011) coached basketball for 28 years, according to a published obituary on Aug. 14, including the 1970s, before retiring. However he as able to help Rosary and Trinity Catholic High School Staff during sports events, as well as helping the Missouri State High School Activities Association in state championships, especially in basketball.

He also served as an usher at All Saints Catholic Church, St. Peters, at 5 p.m. Saturday Masses, where funeral services were held last week.

While at Rosary High Strub served as public address announcer for Rebel Football Games and often said the following at the kickoff, “AND HEEERRE WEEEEE (football is kicked) GO!”

The Gymnasium at Rosary, now Trinity Catholic, was named the “Bob Strub Gymnasium.” Strub resided in O’Fallon, Mo., home . He was buried Aug. 16 at All Saints Cemetery, adjacent to All Saints Church.
