Safety Town will return for the fifteenth year. There will be one session and seating is limited, registration is required. This year’s session is scheduled for:
June 13–24, Monday – Friday, 10 a.m.-noon. Safety Town will be held at Lawson Elementary School,
1830 Charbonier Rd. (Located across from St. Ferdinand Church and School)
The program is designed for 4, 5, and 6 year olds. Instructors concentrate on safety issues for the children such as, seatbelts/child restraint seat, playground equipment, hazards of playing with fire, the correct way to ride on a school bus, water/pool safety, 9-1-1, avoiding strangers, traffic lights and how to properly cross the streets using the lights and crosswalks, bicycle safety, and other safety related topics.
A Safety Town tee shirt is given to every participant on completion of the course at a graduation ceremony.
Safety Town is sponsored by the Florissant Police Department, the Florissant Rotary Club, Stygars & Sons Funeral Homes, the Hazelwood and Ferguson-Florissant School Districts.
The cost per child is $15. Applications are available in the lobby of the Florissant Police Department, 1700 N. Hwy. 67. For additional information call 831-7000.
