Christmas in Old Town Florissant Dec. 7

City Hall will be lit up for Christmas officially on Dec. 7 at the Tree Lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.

This  Saturday, Dec. 7 is the day of the annual “Christmas in Old Town Florissant”.  The festivities begin at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall with seasonal music. The Tree Lighting at 5 p.m. concludes the day when Mayor Tom Schneider flips the switch

Santa Claus will arrive at city hall at 2:15 and welcomes all children to visit him. (There is a charge to have your picture with Santa).

While waiting to tell all your wishes for Christmas to the Big Man, you can make a craft (sponsored by the St. Louis County Library), decorate a cookie, and have your face painted by the Valley of Flowers Queen and her maids. Cookie the Clown will make your very own balloon sculpture. There will be Christmas stories and seasonal music, and cookies and cocoa.

Shops will be open along rue St. Francois. They include: Brief Reflections, Stems Florist, Sandie’s Interiors, Blue Moon Stencil Shop, Florissant Old Town Marketplace Childrens Boutique, Village of the Blue Rose, Korte’s Frames and Gifts, Dooley’s Florist and Gifts, and Henefer’s Jewelers. City Diner, de.lish, Helfer’s Deli, Old Town Donuts and Hendel’s Market Café will also be open.

At 5 p.m., Mayor Tom Schneider and 2013 Valley of Flowers Queen Kelly Mahaffy and her court will flip the switch to light up Florissant’s Christmas Tree.
