Hazelwood West, St. Louis University High and Lutheran North are among 64 high schools, 16 in each of four classes, which will host District Baseball Tournaments scheduled to start May 14.
Hazelwood West will host Class Four, District Six with all games slated to start at 4:15 with the higher seeded team likely to host games on May 16-17. West is seeded second and will open May 16 against seventh-seeded Jennings. The winner is slated to play May 17 against the winner of the May 16 game between third-seeded McCluer and sixth-seeded Riverview Gardens.
Hazelwood Central is seeded first and will play May 17 against the winner of the May 16 game between fourth-seeded McCluer North and fifth-seeded Hazelwood East. The May 17 winners advance to the district final game, May 29 at West.
SLUH will host Class Four, District Five with the May 16-17 games to be played at higher seeded sites and all game to start at 4:30. SLUH is the top seed and will host the May 17 game featuring the winner of the May 16 game, fourth-seeded Chaminade or fifth-seeded University City. The other half of the bracket starts May 16 as second-seeded Ladue meets seventh-seeded Normandy while third-seeded Ritenour meets sixth-seeded Gateway Tech and those two winners play May 17.
SLUH will host the district championship game May 18 and the District Five champion will host the Sectional round against the District Six champion May 24, time to be announced. That winner will play the District Seven champion or the District Eight champion in the May 26 quarterfinal round, site and time to be announced.
Lutheran North will host Class Three, District Four and all but possibly one of the semifinal games to be played there. The tournament opens May 14 at 10 a.m. as fourth-seeded Cardinal Ritter plays fifth-seeded Vashon followed at 1 p.m. between second-seeded Soldan International Studies and seventh-seeded Miller Career Academy and wraps up at 4 p.m. between third-seeded Metro and sixth-seeded Beaumont. On May 16 at 4:15 top-seeded Lutheran North hosts Cardinal Ritter or Vashon while Soldan or Miller plays Metro or Beaumont at site to be announced or the second game of the day at Lutheran North.
Lutheran North will host the championship game May 17 at 4:15 with the winner to play at the winner of Class Three, District Three, May 24, time TBA for the right to play May 26 against the winner of District One or the winner of District Two
CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT SEVEN — Parkway Central, seeded sixth, is the tourney host and will open May 14 at 12 noon against third-seeded Pattonville. Also May 14 at 12 noon fourth-seeded DeSmet will host fifth-seeded Parkway North while second-seeded Francis Howell hosts seventh-seeded St. Charles.
CBC, the top-seeded team, will likely play at neighboring Missouri Baptist University May 16 against DeSmet or Parkway North while the other two May 14 winners play each other May 16, 4:15 at the highest seeded team. The May 16 winners play May 17 at Parkway Central for the right to host the District Eight winner May 24.
CLASS THREE, DISTRICT SIX AT WINFIELD — Tournament play begins May 14 at 10 a.m. as top-seeded Lutheran-St. Charles County plays eighth-seeded McCluer South-Berkeley, while at 12:30 fourth-seeded Wright City plays fifth-seeded Trinity Catholic. Also that day second-seeded Winfield plays seventh-seeded Duchesne, at 3 p.m., while at 5:30 third-seeded Orchard Farm meets sixth-seeded O’Fallon Christian.
On May 16 Lutheran-SC or MS-Berkeley plays Wright City or Trinity at 4:30 while the other two winners play at 7 p.m. The May 16 winners play May 18 at 5 p.m. for the right to play May 24 at the winner of District Five and that winner plays the winner of District Seven or the winner of District Eight on May 26.
