Hazelwood Central Hoops Ends Season In Class 5 Quarterfinals; Finish 23-6 Overall

Hazelwood Central Girls Basketball season ends in the Class Five quarterfinals March 5 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Mark Twain Building with a 56-32 loss to St. Joseph’s Academy.

Hazelwood Central finished at 23-6 overall, two of those losses to St. Joe including a 70-60 game Feb. 4 in the Webster Groves Winter Challenge semis. The Hawks won District Two at home over McCluer, 65-20, and McCluer North, 59-41, and won the March 2 sectional game at Farmington over Poplar Bluff, 56-52

BOYS-Hazelwood Central took second to McCluer North in District 2, losing 60-44

in the Feb. 26 District final. The Hawks defeated Normandy, 81-57 on Feb. 23.

HAZELWOOD WEST took second in Class Five, District Five Boys and Girls at DeSmet. The Wildcat boys defeated Parkway Central, 64-56, and lost to host DeSmet, 70-66. The Wildcat girls defeated Pattonville, 61-47 and lost to Incarnate Word Academy, 72-40.

McCLUER NORTH GIRLS took second in Class Five, District Two Girls. Prior to losing to host Hazelwood Central the Stars defeated Riverview Gardens, 52-40.

NORTH COUNTY TECHNICAL GIRLS took second place in Class Three District Six, losing to host Principia, 44-39 after defeating Lutheran North, 59-30, and Whitfield, 62-53 in overtime.
