The Board of Directors for North County Incorporated (NCI), has elected Patty Gould as chairwoman for 2011. This is a one-year term, beginning Jan. 1. Gould succeeds Kim Bakker, network director of Community Affairs for SSM Health Care – St. Louis.
Patty Gould has been with the Pattonville School District (PSD) as School/Business Partnership Director since 2001. In this role she is responsible for PSD’s Community Education programs, developing collaborations with area businesses, and career education opportunities for students.
Before joining PSD Gould spend 23 years as a YMCA Director in Quincy, IL, Sacramento, CA and St. Louis. She has been on the NCI Board of Directors since 2000, serving on the executive board since 2008. She is a past-chairwoman of the (2008-2010) for the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
The Board of Directors named several new board members for 2011. NCI’s in-coming board members for 2011 are Marsha Bonds, Coldwell Banker Gundaker; John C. Cary, Special School District; Kevin Hall, Bommarito of Hazelwood, Nissan, Honda & Volkswagen; Jim Hessel, Missouri Department of Natural Resources; Supt. Steve Price, Hazelwood School District; Supt. Stanton Lawrence, Normandy School District; Mayor Kyra Watson of Berkeley.
Marsha Bonds, is the former director of North County CARES, an award winning initiative at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley where she worked with community and faith-based organizations to train and build their capacity. Throughout her career Marsha has received more than 50 honors and awards including the prestigious “What’s Right with the Region Award” in 2000. After retirement she began working in real estate for Coldwell Banker Gundaker in North County.
John C. Cary joined the Special School District in 2007 and currently serves as the District’s Superintendent. As Superintendent, he is responsible for approximately 30,000 students and 5,000 employees in 265 sites, with an operating budget of $326 million. Previous to his work at the District, he was Vice President of Banc of America Securities LLC, working with School Districts and their public finance needs in Missouri and Illinois.
Kevin Hall is the director of Corporate Partnerships & Program Sales for Bommarito Nissan, Honda & Volkswagen of Hazelwood. His primary responsibilities are identifying, engaging and building key strategic corporate and community partnerships.
Jim Hessel, one of NCI’s 2010 30 Leaders in their Thirties award recipients, is an extremely active community leader, serving on the Board of Directors for the Florissant Old Town Partners, chairman of the Florissant Board of Adjustments, a member of the Florissant Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and Recording Secretary for the Knights of Columbus Council No.2951.
Stanton E. Lawrence, Ed.D. serves as Normandy School District’s superintendent. Since joining the district, his efforts have been focused on transforming a provisionally accredited school district to one with world class standards and world class performance. His zest for improving the lives of young people by providing the necessary means for them to attain academic success is what continuously drives him.
Steve Price, is superintendent for the Hazelwood School District. He was chosen by the Board of Education in the beginning of 2010. Price served as the Superintendent for Middletown City Schools in Ohio. While in Middletown,
Mayor Kyra Watson was elected as mayor of Berkeley in 2004. She participates in a number of boards and is a member of the National League of Cities and the St. Louis Municipal League. Watson works for a company that builds software programs and hardware systems to administer radiation therapy in cancer patients.
