Summerfest, which is held annually on the grounds of the St.Martin De Porres Church, was not halted despite weekend weather conditions.

This year’s festivities at the church took place from May 18 to May 20, with a chicken dinner and live music provided on the 19th. Games, rides, and booths populated the open field alongside a number of concession stands serving up funnel cakes, pretzels and more.

Returning rides from past Summerfests included the Sky Master, which swayed participants back and forth through the sky as well as the Scrambler.

The black top was home to a wide variety of booths offering prizes ranging from surprise eggs with crocheted characters inside to a brand new 2018 Ford Focus. The “Big Items Booth” allowed a lucky few to win valuable items including a 55-inch flat screen television, hoverboard and Playstation 4 gaming system at the cost of $2 per raffle ticket.

One of the larger craft booths was headed by chairperson Anne Frese, who, for almost a decade, stocked her booth with unusual handmade goods. Everything present was crafted by hand and not purchased in a store. Item included a surprise egg that contained a crocheted character such as Minnie Mouse, a swimming noodle in the shape of a horse, and a sculpture of the Virgin Mary. Frese’s booth strived to offer something for everyone. In addition, all of the proceeds from raffle tickets were used to support St.Martin De Porres parish.
