During Florissant Police Department’s “You Drink & Drive You Lose” campaign, Dec. 6-12, a total of 496 traffic tickets were issued.

Police issued the following tickets: 11 driving while intoxicated; 63 speeding tickets; 44 safety belt tickets; and 10 drug related tickets. There were also eight arrests made for fugitive charges.

Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri. In 2009, 280 people were killed, 1,140 seriously injured and 3,719 received minor injuries in crashes involving an impaired driver.

Enforcement efforts like this one help to take impaired drivers off the road and make travel in Missouri safer.
