Life Care Center of Florissant Opens
LIFE CARE CENTER OF FLORISSANT held a ribbon-cutting and open house on Dec. 2.
Life Care Center of Florissant, a new skilled nursing and rehab facility, held an open house last Thursday. Mayor Robert Lowery and Florissant officials, and Life Care Center staff and associates participated in a ribbon cutting.
The center is located at 1201 Garden Plaza Drive, off Parker Road and between New Florissant and Waterford. Life Care Center opened with 90 beds and offers skilled nursing services with advanced wound care, IV therapy, restorative nursing and respiratory care. According to Kasey Kaiser, regional director of sales and marketing, the main emphasis at the center will be rehabilitation.

The rehab offerings will be extensive with one of the largest rehab gyms in the area, state-of-the-art equipment and modalities, and a transitional apartment in which patients can practice their home skills before returning home. It will also be the first center in the area to have the AlterG anti-gravity treadmill, which allows post-surgery patients to strengthen their mobility without bearing too much weight. In-house therapists will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies for both inpatients and outpatients.
EXECUTIVE DINING ROOM
Patients will be able to take advantage of many amenities. These will include large common areas for socialization, day rooms, a café and ice cream parlor, an on-site salon and spa, wheelchair-accessible transportation, a fine dining program, and private Medicare suites.
Life Care Center of Florissant will accept Medicare and many commercial and Medicare-replacement insurance plans.
This center will join the Life Care Centers of America family as one of more than 220 campuses nationwide. Located in 28 states from Rhode Island to the Hawaii, Life Care offers return-to-home rehab services for adults of most ages, as well as providing long-term nursing care, post-acute care and Alzheimer’s centers.
Life Care Center of Florissant will be one of 11 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Missouri operated or managed by Life Care Centers of America.
In addition to the skilled nursing facility, ground has already been broken for the assisted living apartment building which is phase two of the Garden Plaza campus. The assisted living portion is projected to be completed by late 2011. Following suit in 2012 will be the independent living apartment building. In the near future, the existing Villa homes will be also become available for lease to seniors.
