Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Had Busy School Year; More Events For Christmas Season

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School in Ferguson has had a busu school year and is preparing for  the holidays. The second half of the school year looks to be just as exciting as the first half.

The school year kicked off  with the annual Back To School Fair in August, a joyous celebration to welcome all of our new and returning students and a great way for the many new families to get to know the school community.   The school reported a 13% growth in enrollment. The kids have been involved in after school sports and speech teams, student council, and community service projects.

In ,  the school held its bigger than ever Trunk-or-Treat featuring a “haunted hallway” created by our 8th grade class and a chili cook-off.  This was followed-up with yet another school musical featuring students from Pre-Kindedrgarten through 8th grade in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”.

Service projects include weekly work at the food pantry and Karen House, monthly sandwich making for the soup kitchen, a can food drive, a toy drive, and monthly crafts and cards for members of the homebound community. Students are engaged in hands-on activities; instruction driven by individual student’s needs, and fully integrated technology with interactive SmartBoards and student response system in all Kindergarten through 8th grade classrooms.

As the school moves into the festive Christmas season, the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School community will host two holiday celebrations.  On Dec. 14 at 6:30, BTC will hold its annual Las Posadas evening.  All are invited to participate in a Los Posadas Service, a traditional Mexican Advent celebration meaning “the inns”. The celebration is a remembrance of the difficult journey of Mary and Joseph through the streets of Bethlehem.

The  procession will begin in the parking lot nearest the school entrance. Mary and Joseph will lead us as we process to several doors in the immediate neighborhood singing Christmas hymns along the way. At first, they will be turned down, but, eventually, we will arrive at the Chapel where we will be welcomed in for a short service.  Refreshments in the school cafeteria will follow.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, BTC will host its first ever Breakfast with Santa 18 from 9-11 in the BTC School Cafeteria.  Join in on the holiday fun with: breakfast, pictures with Santa, crafts, stories with Mrs. Claus, face painting, games, and  a Christmas Boutique.”  The cost is  $5 per person (children under 1 are free) All children must be accompanied by an adult.

RSVP’s required. Call the school office at 522-3388 for more information or mail your RSVP and check to: BTC School, 150 N Elizabeth Ave. Ferguson, MO 63135
