Grace Hercules, senior citizen coordinator for Florissant, retired on March 2, after nine years of service to Florissant’s senior population. Peggy Hogan is the new coordinator.
Hercules was responsible for introducing many of the events and programs in use today: flu shot program, evening dinner dances, the Silver Words Club, Senior Line Dancing, the North Country Gala, the New Years Eve party, and others.
Hercules accepted a resolution from Rep. Bruce Darrough on March 2 recognizing her as an individual who has contributed to the welfare of the state and its citizens. She is also the recipient of the 2005 NAELA Outstanding Senior Award from the Missouri Chapter of the Elder Law Attorneys and the 2005 SSM Health Care Champion of Older Americans Award.
Hercules will be honored by the St. Louis County Older Resident Program this year with its Community Service Award.
