Florissant City Council: Business Changes

Florissant Council Hears Plans For New

Coffee Shop, Plaza Madrid Changes

The Florissant City Council met for the second January meeting last Monday and held three public hearings and passed several ordinances.

The first hearing was about a proposed coffee shop at 2190 N. Waterford. The business, Latte Lounge, was represented by Nyshawn Harvey. The location is on N. Waterford near the intersection with Lindbergh Blvd.

The shop would be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Sunday and will seat 21. They will have snacks for purchase, but they will not be prepared in the shop. They will be using Kaldi’s Coffee and preparing the coffee drinks on site.

No one spoke in opposition at the hearing and the council held a first reading on the bill that would approve the business.

The second public hearing was about a subdivision plat of Plaza de Seville at 13015 New Halls Ferry Road which has been Plaza Madrid. Ed Griesedieck spoke for the owners of Plaza Madrid. They have built a new building on the site for Davida Dialysis. The owners would like to break the center into two lots so they can separate the new building from the rest of the plaza. The rest of the plaza is being torn down plan on tearing down.

No one spoke in opposition at the hearing and the council held a first reading on the bill that would approve the business.

The third hearing was about a request by RL Hunter, doing business as Dent KO to open a paint less dent removal and window tinting business located at 507 Dunn Road. Randy Hunter spoke to the council about the business that is next to the Jewel Banquet Center.

Hunter said he had an existing business in Hazelwood. He would like to move into Florissant, he said. Hunter said he planned on working 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday. He said he sometimes works up to an hour earlier or later if the shop is busy.

No one spoke in opposition at the hearing and the council held a first reading on the bill that would approve the business.

   In other matters the council:

  • Passed an ordinance approving a catering business at 2308 N. Highway 67.

Passed an ordinance that would allow new signage at Bentwood Nursing Home at 1501 Charbonier Road.

  • Passed two ordinances that will allow new freestanding ATMs in the city for Chase Bank. One would be at 555 Howdershell Road and one at Grandview Plaza Shopping Center.
  • Held a first reading on an ordinance that will move money from the Capital Improvement Fund to the Capital Additions – Park Improvements for the repair of the Sunset Trail fence at Coldwater Creek.
