MSHSAA Golf Adds Sectionals, Tennis To Have Team And Individual Districts

Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year the Missouri State High School Activities Association is adding a sectional tournament in golf while tennis will have team and individual district tournaments.
GOLF — The addition of a sectional round results in the district tournaments on Sept. 29-Oct. 1 for girls with a rain dates of Oct. 4-5 while the boys districts take place April 27-29 with rain dates of May 2-3. The top two teams and the top 15 individuals not from the top two teams including ties advance to sectional tournaments Oct 6-8 (rain date Oct 11) at even numbered district girls sites and May 4-6 (rain date May 9) at odd numbered district boys sites. The top two teams and top 12 teams not on the top two teams from sectionals qualify for state Oct. 18-19 for girls and May 16-17 for boys. Schools with four or five golfers in sectionals or state can qualify for team points but with only the qualifying golfers.
State tournaments will be held at two courses for girls, Rivercut Golf Course (Class One) Twin Oaks Country Club (Class Two), and four for boys — Sedalia Golf Course and Country Club (Class One), Rivercut (Class Two), Silo Ridge Golf Course (Class Three) and Twin Oaks (Class Four).
TENNIS — Districts for each of the two classes are doubles from eight to 16 and team tournaments, dual matches of six singles and three doubles matches, will take place Oct. 4-8 for girls and May 9-13 for boys. Each district team will send two singles players and two doubles teams for the individual tournaments which must close by Oct. 9 for girls and May 14 for boys.
The district team champion advances to the team sectionals Oct. 14-16 for girls and May 19-21 for boys at the sites of the winners of Districts One, Five Nine and 13. The top two singles and top two doubles players in the individual districts advance to individual sectionals Oct. 11-13 at even numbered girls district sites and May 16-18 at odd-numbered boys sites. The team sectional tournament winner advances to state Oct 21 for girls and May 26 for boys while the top two singles and top two doubles players from individual sectionals go to state, Oct. 22-23 for girls and May 27-28 for Boys. The State Tournaments will take place at the Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield.
