Hazelwood Central High To host Cheerleading Camp

Hazelwood Central High School will host a Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) day camp and stunt clinic on July 24 and July 25. The camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 each day and will include squads from public and private schools in the greater St. Louis area. Participants will learn cheers, chants, extreme routines and learn to improve techniques.

Pamela Milberg, government teacher and varsity cheerleading coach at Hazelwood Central, said they were approached by UCA in the spring. Last summer, the school hosted a regional cheerleading event and UCA “was impressed.”

The cheerleading squads from Hazelwood Central will not participate in the camp, but instead will serve as hosts, as well as operate a concession stand.

Recently, the school held a stunt clinic that attracted nearly 300 participants. For five years, Hazelwood Central High served as a site for UCA regional activities.
