Police Hosts Safety Town At Wedgwood Elementary in June

The Florissant Police will hold a Safety Town program, June 14-25, at Wedgwood Elementary School. The program will be held Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-noon. Safety Town, designed for four, five, and six year-olds, is sponsored by the Florissant Rotary Club and the Ferguson-Florissant School District.

Children will learn valuable information on a variety of safety issues; bicycle/tricycle safety, how to safely cross streets, school bus and playground safety.  The Florissant Valley Fire Protection District will also provide fire safety instruction and fire equipment demonstration.

Each student will have the opportunity to see police and firemen as their friends and teachers.  Each child will receive classroom instruction as well as be required to demonstrate the safety skills they have learned in a miniature town setting complete with buildings, stop signs, electric signals and bikes to ride.

Registration forms can be obtained at the James J. Eagan Civic Center during normal business hours.  Seats are limited and will be filled on a first come-first served basis.  The cost of the program is $15 per child, payable by cash or checks made payable to the Florissant Rotary Club.

Wedgwood Elementary School is located at 14275 New Halls Ferry Road (additional entrance off of N. Hwy 67 at Cougar Dr.)
