“I feel very excited. I am really grateful to see Twillman get this honor because we do a lot. It’s great to see us recognized.” “I have worked in a lot of jobs where no one ever really notices your efforts, so it’s cool to finally do work where someone does recognize you for them.”
Some of Ratner’s co-workers commented on working with her.
“She is such a wonderful person, friend and colleague. Any time I need to ask her a question, discuss a problem or collaborate with her on lesson plans, she is not only eager to help but very positive at the same time,” said Katie Berlinger, another fifth grade teacher. Counselor Tracy Turner concurred.
“Cole is an exceptional educator who has earned the respect of her students and of her colleagues,” Turner said. “She gives 100 percent of her time and energy to Twillman Elementary and we are lucky to have her on our team. She greatly deserves the honor of being Hazelwood School District’s Teacher of the Year!”
“I don’t think I have ever seen someone care about his or her students more than Cole,” Berlinger added. “She does so much for this school I am surprised she hasn’t completely gone crazy by how busy she constantly is! It is an honor for me to teach with the Hazelwood Teacher of the Year!”
