High School Sports ’15-16 Practices Begin on Aug. 3

High School Sports for the 2015-16 school year begins Monday, Aug. 3, with the first day of fall practices and end Saturday, June 4, 2016, with state championship games for Baseball and Girls Soccer.
Fall Sports contests — for Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Softball, Girls Volleyball, Cross Country, Girls Field Hockey, Boys Swimming and Diving, Boys Soccer and Football — begin Aug. 21 and end Nov. 28 with the State Football Championships.
Winter Sports begin Nov. 2 with Baskeball and Wrestling practice, Nov. 9 with Girls Swimming and Diving practice, Basketall and Wrestling contests begin Nov. 20, first Girls Swimming and Diving meets begin Nov. 27 and the winter season ends March 19, 2016 with the Class 4, 5 State Basketball Championships.
Spring Sports — which includes Lacrosse, Boys Golf, Boys Tennis, Boys Volleyball, Track and Field, Baseball and Girls Soccer — begins practices Feb. 29, 2015 (although Boys Lacrosse begins earlier) and contests begin March 18, 2016 (Boys Lacrosse starts in early March, 2016).
Here is a look at the Missouri State High School Activities Association tournament dates beginning with the first day of districts
SOCCER — There have been changes to the state championships from districts to state finals (See related article for details).
GOLF — Girls compete in the fall with districts beginning Sept.. 28 and the state championships ending Oct. 13 at two sites to be determined. Boys compete in the spring of 2016 with districts beginning May 2 and the state championships ending May 17 at four sites to be determined.
TENNIS — Girls compete in the fall with districts beginning Sept. 28, the state team championships take place Oct. 15 and the state singles and doubles championships close Oct. 17. Boys compete in the spring of 2016 with districts beginning May 9, the state team champioinships take place May 26 and the state singles and doubles championships close May 28. The State Championships will be held at the Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield.
SOFTBALL — Area teams compete in the fall with districts to begin Oct.7 and the state championships to be decided on Oct. 24. The State finals will be played at Killian Park, Springfield.
VOLLEYBALL — Girls compete in the fall with districts beginning Oct. 19 and the state championships to be decided on Oct. 31 at the Southeast Missouri State University Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Boys compete in the spring of 2016 with round robin districts to begin May 13 and the championships to close around May 19 or 20
SWIMMING AND DIVING — There are no districts so state qualifying is determined during regulated meets in swim times and dive points and qualifying closes one week prior to the state champonships. The Boys State championships are Nov. 6-7 and the Girls are Feb. 19-20, 2016.
CROSS COUNNTRY — Districts will be held Oct. 24 for Class four, Oct 31 for Class One-Three and the State Championshps, at Oak Hills Golf Center will be held Nov. 7
FOOTBALL — District Playoffs begin Oct. 23 and will close with the Show-Me Bowl, Nov. 27-28 at the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis
WRESTLING — Districts begin Feb. 12, 2016 and the state championships will close Feb. 20, 2016 at Mizzou Arena, University of Missouri, Columbia
BASKETBALL — Districts begin Feb. 20, 2016 for Classes One-Three and Feb. 27, 2016, for Classes Four-Five and the State Championships, at Mizzou Arena, will be March 12, 2016 for Clases One-Thee and March 19, 2016 for Classes Four-Five.
TRACK AND FIELD — Districts will be May 7, 2016 for Classes One-Two and May 14, 2016 for Classes Three-Five and the State Championships, at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, Lincoln University, Jefferson City will be May 20-21, 2016 for Classes One-Two and My 27-28, 2016 for Classes Three-Four.
BASEBALL — Districts begin May 13, 2016 and the state championships will be played May 31-June 4, 2016 (one per day for each of the five classes) at T. R. Hughes Ballpark,
O’Fallon.
