David Otto, Handyman True Value Hardware, has been named chairman of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2010. He will be inducted at the chamber’s Outstanding Business Person of the Year and annual installation dinner on Friday, April 9 at Yacovelli’s Restaurant & Banquet Center and will start at 6 p.m.

Otto is currently the chamber’s vice chairman of the board of directors and was recently the chairman of the Chamber’s Business Showcase & Family Fair. He has been an integral member of the chamber serving four nonconsecutive terms on the chamber’s board of directors. Otto was chairman of the board in 1999 and was honored as the chamber’s 2001 Outstanding Business Person of the Year.

Otto is the president of Handyman Hardware and operates two locations in Florissant and one in South County. He has been a member of St. Angela Merici Parish for 40 years. He is a graduate of St. Louis University High School and earned a bachelor degree in architecture from The University Norte Dame.

Along with building his business, Otto has taken a very active role in the community. He has dynamically served or is serving on the boards and numerous committees for the following charitable and community organizations: Christian Hospital Patient Care and Community Relations Committees, board member of Christian Hospital and the Christian Hospital Foundation, board member of the Florissant Parks Foundation, member of the Commercial Bank Advisory Board and past chairman and board member of the Florissant Valley of Flowers Festival.

Otto and his wife, Mary, have three children, Brian, Michelle and Christine. His father Kenneth Otto was the chamber’s 1978 Outstanding Business Person of the Year.
