Commendations, Certificates of Merit Awarded to Florissant Police Officers

Several Florissant Police officers received Chief’s Letters of Commendation or Certificates of Merit at a Police Command and Staff March meeting Chief William Karabas commended officers for their actions in the line of duty.  Mayor Robert G. Lowery was invited to present the awards to the officers.

•  Chief’s Letters of Commendation were issued to:

Officer Timothy Green, for his initiative in developing a suspect who was identified and subsequently arrested for a burglary;

Officer Christopher Easton, for developing information that led to the arrest of suspects responsible for four armed robberies, one in Florissant and three in Hazelwood, six burglaries in Florissant, and the recovery of stolen firearms;

Detective Sean Reiland, for his investigative skills and efforts that led to the clearance of a robbery 1st degree and an assault 1st degree;

Detectives Richard Pfaff and Jacob Schmidt, for their expertise and dedication as evidence technicians who in 2009 develop 36 fingerprint matches and two DNA matches that supported the arrests of suspects.

• Certificates of Merit were presented to:

Officer Andrew Gerwitz, Officer Jarrod Coder and his K-9 partner Miko, for their arrest of two burglary suspects inside of a residence.  These suspects were later determined to be responsible for numerous other burglaries.

Officer Michael Arthur, for his arrest of a suspect responsible for a series of property damages in which a BB gun was used to damage windows.

Chief Karabas stated “these officers and their actions are representative of all of the dedicated men and women of the Florissant Police Department, each of whom I am extremely proud of.”
