High School District wrestling meets will be taking place Feb. 12-13 in 16 sites throughout Missouri, including Hazelwood Central.
Hazelwood Central will be host to Class Four, District Two with Suburban North Conference rivals Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Pattonville, Ritenour and Riverview Gardens as well three Francis Howell School teams – Howell High, Howell Central and Howell North – CBC, DeSmet and Fort Zumwalt South.
Meanwhile Trinity Catholic will be at Whitfield for Class One, District One and McCluer South-Berkeley will be in Mexico, Mo., for Class Two, District Four.
Wrestlers who compete in the championship and third place matches, Feb. 13, will qualify for the Missouri State High School Activities Association championships, Feb. 18-20 at Mizzou Arena, Columbia, on the University of Missouri campus.
FOOTBALL 2010-2011 – Last weekend MSHSAA released the 2010 and 2011 football district assignments so that the participating schools can prepare schedules for the next two years. And there are changes to the districts.
Class Six, District Four will still have defending two-time Class Six State champion Hazelwood Central along with Hazelwood West and McCluer North but Ritenour replaces Riverview Gardens, who moves to Class Five. Riverview joins Class Five, District Three with Hazelwood East, McCluer and Normandy, a former Suburban North team moving from Class Four as a Quarterfinalist. Pattonville moves from Class Five to Class Six and will be in District Five with the Francis Howell Schools — Howell Central, Howell High and Howell North.
Meanwhile Trinity Catholic, Lutheran North and McCluer South-Berkeley will be in Class Three with Cardinal Ritter replacing John Burroughs.
The change means a possible return of the one of the oldest rivalries in St. Louis, Normandy versus Ritenour in the Wagon Wheel game. Ritenour’s district scheduling with non-conference teams in the last four years along with Normandy moving to the Suburban East Conference prevented the two teams from meeting.
BASKETBALL DISTRICTS begin Feb. 20 for Class Five and Feb. 27 for Class Three. Previews, including possible seedings and pairing will take place in two week.
