Florissant to Receive $6.6 Million in Grants for Public Infrastructure

Florissant will receive more than $6.6 million in federal reimbursement money for five approved projects and one expected to be approved for 2010.

The city has received $47,548.03 in reimbursement money for various federally approved projects for 2009.

The projects for 2010 with the total awarded amount are:

• Lindbergh Blvd./North Hwy. 67 Corridor Enhancement Project – Phase II, $1,212,525.

• Greenway Chase Drive Bridge Replacement Project – Phase I, $1,314,019.

• MoDOT Sidewalk Installation Project along Halls Ferry Elementary School (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009), $1,000,000.

• MoDOT Safe Routes to Schools Project for Halls Ferry Elementary School, $145,000.

• Greenway Chase Drive Bridge/Road Improvement Project – Phase II, $2,963,077.

• Stimulus Package (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009) The city engineer submitted two grant applications to the ARRA regarding one for a new solar paneled roof for the ice rink, and one containing a request for 10 electric vehicles, two wind turbines for the nature lodge, and a software package for the city clerk. The city engineer is currently working with Department of Energy representatives completing additional requested reports. The eligible amount is $452,200.

The total amount of grant money for the above city projects is $6,634,621.
