Saint Louis County Encourages Residents to Sign Up for Senior Property Tax Freeze

Residents can now sign up for updates on the Senior Property Tax Freeze Program. Residents can sign up by visiting our Senior Property Tax Freeze webpage and clicking on the SUBSCRIBE button.

There is significant interest in the program, with more than 100,000 residents expected tbe eligible. Saint Louis County wants to provide updates along the way to ensure a successful launch.

The Department of Revenue is in the process of hiring staff and working with our

technology vendor on the creation of software needed for implementation. Once staff and software are in place, the application phase will be opened.

The good news is the County Council extended the application deadline to June 30, 2025, so there will be plenty of time to apply once the program is up and running. The council also recently approved a request by County Executive Dr. Sam Page for additiona funding so that Saint Louis County has the necessary staffing through the rest of the year to properly begin and run the program.

As Saint Louis County gets closer to opening the application process, constituents will be provided with complete instructions, including the list of documents needed to complete an application and contact information for questions and assistance. We expect to roll out more detailed information in coming weeks about a concierge service to assist our county’s seniors with their applications.

Eligible taxpayers must be 62 years of age, must have an ownership interest in the

property for which they are applying, must primarily reside in the property for which they are applying, must be responsible for the payment of taxes for that property and may not claim more than one primary residence.
