At the executive session of the Florissant City Council, Director of Public Works Lou Jearls reported to council members on the city’s trash service. He said the service was going well, but several residents have not paid. As part of the agreement with Meridien Waste, all residents must pay for the trash service.
Jearls said letters had been sent to people who haven’t paid. Summonses to court are going out, Jearls said, and the first 200 will have a Dec. 10 court date.
Also regarding trash, Jearls said that his department was enforcing a recent law passed by the council specifying the type of enclosures businesses must have around dumpsters.
“Three mailings have gone out about this,” Jearls said. The last mailing warned that summonses would be issued for non-compliance. “We’re getting ready to send about 270 summonses,” Jearls said. Jearls said he wanted the council to be aware, as he expected some calls regarding the summonses when they went out.
