IWA Volleyball Going Back to K.C.

Incarnate Word Academy Volleyball returns to Kansas City, and Municipal Auditorium, for the 35th Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls Championships this Friday, Saturday, seeking to win their 12th state title, an MSHSAA record.

It will be IWAs 23rd State Semifinal appearance, finishing third in Class Four last year in Kansas City. IWA (25-9), defending Class Four State Champion St. Joseph’s Academy (28-7), Ozark (32-3-1) and Blue Springs (33-4) will be playing in two-game round-robin matches Friday at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday the Championship match starts at 4 p.m. while the third-place match will take place at 7 p.m.

Incarnate Word, 57-23 in games played, defeated Normandy, 25-4 and 25-6, and Ritenour, 25-5, 25-5 Oct. 29 at home, to win Class Four, District Five, their 25th district title. Last Saturday at McCluer North IWA defeated Hazelwood West, 25-15, 25-6 in the Sectional Round, and Francis Howell, 25-16, 21-25, 25-19 in the State Quarterfinals.

STATE CROSS COUNTRY — McCluer North, Incarnate Word Academy and Lutheran North will be sending runners to compete as individuals this Saturday in the MSHSAA championships in Jefferson City

Going to the Oak Hills Golf Center in Class Four will be sophomore Drew Miller, McCluer North Boys, senior Britney Neuhauser, McCluer North Girls, and freshman Maddie Orf and Megan Whitehead, Incarnate Word Academy Girls. Going to Oak Hills from Lutheran North in Class Two are Adam Prahlow, Chris Floyd and Paul Degler, Boys, as well as Anna Rathje and Meagan Schmidt, Girls.
