McCluer North Girl Wrestlers Win
A Tournament And 4 Dual Meets

In the second year of High School Girls Wrestling, McCluer North Wins A Tournament at Rockwood Summit High School and won four out of six dual meets prior to a possible dual meet Jan. 22 at Seckman High in Imperial.
On Dec. 14, 2019, McCluer North won the Summit Sheri Lance Invitational by scoring 107 points. The Stars finished 20 points ahead of runner-up Lindbergh, 22 better than third-place Mehlville, 24 better than tourney host Summit did and 23 better than fifth-place Washington High.
In dual meets McCluer North defeated Mehlville 36-33 (Dec. 3, 2019), Francis Howell 36-24 (Dec. 11, 2019), Fort Zumwalt South 42-12 (Jan.8) and Parkway South 42-18 (Jan. 16). The Stars lost 33-30 (Dec. 11, 2019) to Lindbergh and 30-21 (Jan. 15) to Lafayette.
McCluer North finished second in two tournaments. The Stars, with a season-high 195 points, were runner up, Dec. 7, to St. Clair (251) at the John Burroughs Tournament. The Stars scored 56.5 points Jan. 14 at the McCluer Comet Invitational and were a distant second to Northwest-Cedar Hill (127). The Stars and Lions are on the Track Wrestling schedule for a Jan.29 dual meet.
McCluer North finished fifth in a pair of tournaments, Dec. 21, 2019, at Mehlville (78) and Jan. 11 at Lafayette (Fred Ross Invitational) (99). The Stars took eighth place (106) in the second annual Wonder Woman Tournament, a 95-team meet Jan. 3-4 at Columbia-Battle High School. The North Star women wrestle Friday (Jan. 24), 5 p.m. at the Washington Iron Jays Girls Tournament at Feb. 1, 9 a.m. at the Francis Howell Tournament before competing in District Two, Feb. 7-8 at Wentzville-Holt High.
Senior Tristan Paige Folkner (12-0) won tournaments at John Burroughs (130 pounds), and Summit Sheri Lance (125). Senior Triniya Walker (9-1) won the Lafayette Fred Ross Invitational (235) and the McCluer Comet Invitational (235). Juniors Natalie
Schaljo (130) (16-6) and Elizabeth Cosentino (142) (16-5) won the Summit Sheri Lance
Invitational. Senior Jenia Howard (15-10) won the John Burroughs Tournament (135) on the junior varsity team.
McCLUER GIRLS scored a season-high 94 points Jan. 18 in taking fourth-place at the St. Charles High School Invitational. The Comets also took fourth Dec. 13, 2019, at the Parkway West Lady Longhorn Roundup (533.5), and fifth at their own Comet Invitational (37.5). McCluer, also, took seventh at the Dec. 14, 2019 Wentzville-Holt Tournament (54.5), eighth Dec. 7, 2019, at the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament (61.5), 10th Dec. 31 at the Fort Zumwalt East Tournament (63.5) and 27 at the Wonder Woman Tournament (62.5). The Comets, according to Track Wrestling, have a Jan. 27 Tri-Meet with Hazelwood East at Affton before competing in District Two, Feb. 7-8.
Sophomore Kynia Holloway (22-6) won three tournaments including the Wentzville-Holt Tournament (120-A), the McCluer Comet Invitational (115) and the St. Charles Invitational (115). Junior Alexus Yancey (18-8) won the Wentzville-Holt Tournament (166-A) but took second in the St. Charles Invitational (152) due to a 4-2 sudden-victory loss to Clayton’s Khaylie Ross.
McCLUER NORTH BOYS — Senior Ibrahim Ameer is 17-0 through Jana. 16 and 16 of the wins are at 195. Ameer won the Francis Howell North Tournament, Dec. 7, 2019, the Lee’s Summit Holiday Tournament, Dec. 20-21, 2019, and the DeSmet Jesuit Bobby Christman Memorial Tournament, Dec. 28, 2019. Senior Issac Roberson (17-8) won the DeSmet-Christman Tournament at 132.
OTHER BOYS WINNERS in tournaments include McCluer senior Kennard Haynes (15-2) — at the Fort Zumwalt East Tournament (220), Dec. 21, 2019, and the Vianney Tournament (195), Jan/ 4 — and Hazelwood West senior Arneze Rush, at the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament (132) on Dec. 7.
