SSM DePaul President Resigns, Accepts New Position in Texas

SSM DePaul President, Melinda Clark, announced her resignation last week and is accepting a new position in Texas. Her final day with DePaul will be Dec. 8.

Clark said her decision comes with mixed emotions, “I will miss the people, which are what makes DePaul so alive, in addition to the deep commitment each of you have for our mission and our patients.”

Clark has accepted a new career opportunity in Texas. She will be the president of Lubbock Hospitals and the executive vice president/chief operating officer of Covenant Health System, which includes 19 hospitals and six Family Care Centers in the Texas-New Mexico region.

SSM will immediately begin a nationwide search for her replacement and will be working with the Administrative Council at DePaul on a transition plan and interim leadership. Clark said, “DePaul has an outstanding leadership team in place and I am confident there will be no disruption in the exceptional patient care provided at DePaul. DePaul’s leaders will continue striving for excellence in all arenas of healthcare, seeking and retaining the nation’s top physicians while providing the very latest healthcare procedures and technologies. ”

Clark has been with SSM Health Care since 1994. She served as president of SSM Rehab for seven years before joining DePaul as president in 2003. Michael Graue, Executive Vice President, Network Operations of SSM Health Care St. Louis said Clark “is well known for her leadership in reaching new goals and for her enthusiasm and foresight to bring exceptional new services that benefit the community.”
