Read MoreUnder Any Circumstances, Josh Hancock’s Death Tragic, Yet Senseless
BY RANDY GARDNER
What a shame it was this weekend as a beloved Cardinal lost his life in a senseless traffic accident. By now, everyone knows the accounts that led up to the death of Josh Hancock. Many questions may go unanswered forever, but as I mentioned this was senseless.
Not only for Josh but many I talked to over the weekend just can’t understand how someone who has the world by the tail would take senseless risks such as he apparently did not only jeopardize himself and his career but other innocent people in this world.
On the other hand, it just goes to show you that the people that you think have it all like million dollar contracts and a pro ball career have problems just like we do everyday and that bad things can happen to them also.
How do you feel as more facts continue to come out about the death of Josh Hancock? Many I talk to are mad that he would even consider getting into a vehicle if he was indeed under the conditions that witnesses were quoted in the newspaper. This will be a topic of debate for a long time to come. We have to hold our athletes to a higher standard, as they are role models to our children. How do we explain this to the kids? The ones that look up to guys like this.
Get A Rage Fix Before Rams Camp ——-
The weekend was also a big one for the Rams as they made out well in the draft. With their first pick they went defensively with a defensive lineman in Adam Carriker. Next, the Rams went with a fullback to back up and work besides Steven Jackson. Today, I saw the list of 19 free agents that the Rams signed from all over. These guys will be brought into camp where the team might find that special diamond in the rough.
I am really looking forward to the mini camps and then the real camp. It is only a few weeks away. The season is only three months away. I continually talk about missing football and that you can get your fix with the River City Rage. The team is now 6-0 and will play at home this weekend the 5th of May. Get out and see what is now the only game in town.
SLU Goes Big Time with Majeris——–
Now on to Basketball and SLU. Who would have ever thought that St. Louis University would shell out over a million dollars for a head coach in Rick Majeris. Is it worth it? This guy has a proven track record coaching last at Utah. He is very successful with a career record of 422 wins and only 147 losses. He has been to the tournament 11 times and the Sweet 16 four times. He must have a lot of pull as he got higher salaries for his assistant coaches and more Charter flights for the team.
The only down side would be that in 2004 he gave USC a commitment and then changed his mind. He was working as an analyst for ESPN for the last couple of years.
I will be more confident when he steps on the court for the first time. I guess if you spend $80 million on a stadium another 1.5 won’t make much of a difference. It definitely puts them in the national spotlight. They can’t buy that kind of publicity.
