Top Seeded IWA; Trinity Soccer Defends
Districts Against Sub. Blue Pool Teams

Incarnate Word Academy and Trinity Catholic High School have three things in common when they compete in District Girls Soccer May 13-14.
First, they have succeeded in the past in repeating as District Champions. Second, they are the top seeds in districts. Third, they are competing in districts against Suburban Conference Blue Pool teams.
INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY is unbeaten in 36 consecutive years of District Girls Soccer, 34 in a row as a Missouri State High School Activities Association sanctioned championships. The Red Knights begin their quest for 37 district titles in a row, 35 in MSHSAA, as they visit Class Three, District Five host Riverview Gardens May 13 at 4 p.m. The winner plays at Riverview May 14 in a 4 p.m. game against the winner of the May 13, 4 p.m. game between Blue Pool rivals McCluer and Hazelwood East, at the Florissant Valley campus of St. Louis Community College.
The Class Three, District Five champion hosts the winner of District Six in a May 21 Sectional. The Class Three Quarterfinal game, site to be determined, will be on May 25. The Class Three Semifinals, Third Place and Championship Games are May 31-June 1 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. IWA has an MSHSAA record nine state Girls Soccer titles.
TRINITY CATHOLIC — For four years in a row, Trinity won District Girls Soccer titles in Class One. This year Trinity’s enrollment moved the Titans up to Class Two but they are seeking their fifth consecutive title. Trinity plays May 13 against Normandy in a 6 p.m. game at Jennings after the Warriors play long-time Suburban (now Blue Pool) rival McCluer South-Berkeley at 4 p.m.
The May 13 winners return to Jennings May 14 for the district title and the right to host the Class Two, District Six champion in the May 18 Sectional. The Quarterfinal game, at site to be determined will be on May 22 while the Semifinal, Third Place and Championship game, at Swope Soccer Village, will be on May 29-30.
LUTHERAN NORTH, winners of eight consecutive district titles, moves down to Class One and will be the third seed at home in District Three. The Crusaders take on a St. Louis Public High School, the Collegiate School of Medicine-Bio Science in one of two games at 5:30 on May 14. The other pits top-seeded Crossroads College Prep against the winner of the May 13, 4:30 game between North Technical and St. Louis Public High School Sumner, at Lutheran North.
The May 14 winners will return to Lutheran North May 16 for a 4:30 p.m. game. The Class One, District Three champion hosts the District Four winner in a May 22 Sectional for the right to play in the Semifinal and Third Place or Championship Game May 29-30 at Swope Soccer Village.
CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT FIVE — Hazelwood West, which last won a district title in 2016, is the top seed and will open May 13 in a 3:45 game at the Ritenour Soccer Complex against the host Huskies, whose high school is one-half mile west of the Soccer Complex. At 5:30 that same day second-seeded and 2017 district champion McCluer North plays defending district champion Hazelwood Central
The May 13 winners return to the Ritenour Soccer Complex May 15 in a 4:15 game for the district tile. The Class Four, District Five champion hosts the District Six winner in a May 21 Sectional. The Quarterfinal is May 25 at site to be det4ermined while the Semifinal, Third Place and Championship Games are May 31-June 1 at Swope Soccer Village.
All four teams are in the Suburban Conference Green Pool. Prior to May 5 McCluer North is the only team with a winning record (12-5 prior to May 7). However, Hazelwood West gets the top seed due to the Wildcats’ 3-1 win April 10 over the Stars.
