A Full-Day of Enjoyment Sept. 14
Music, magic, and many activities for the kids
The City of Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division will host the Annual Hazelwood Harvestfest on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Howdershell Park from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. This one-day family festival provides a full day of free family friendly entertainment and activity.
Staged entertainment for the event includes Chef Bananas, a comedic magical treat for all ages, performing from 10-10:45 a.m. He will perform under the park pavilion. The Charles Glenn Group is the featured musical entertainment from 2-6 p.m. The Bubble Bus will be parked from 11a.m. -2 p.m.
The traditional horseshoe tournaments will be held at 10:30a.m. and 1:30p.m. The tournaments are random draw partnering doubles tournaments, with winners taking home trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Registration will be held at the park horseshoe pits.
The City senior group, the Hazelnuts, will be leading two sessions of Bingo in the Bingo tent at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. It is free for all ages, with a chance to win small prizes like household items, games, and gift cards.
Available throughout day will be a variety of attractions including a “Tubs of Fun” mechanical ride, the Twisted Twister slide, the High Voltage Inflatable Obstacle course and a smaller obstacle course just for ages eight and under – the Krazy Kids course. There will also be kids’ Ninja Obstacle Course presenting a variety of physical challenges located near the Ninja Training Playground.
City departments, commissions, and several local businesses will have booths to offer information about services in the community. There will be several gifts available throughout the day for those who visit the Parks and Recreation table. The Community Enrichment Commission will be selling Cotton Candy- as a fundraiser.
There will also be several food items for purchase, to support local not-for-profit groups. High school students needing to earn community service can volunteer to assist with the event. Contact 314-731-0980 if interested.
