Mayor Tom Schneider presided at a ceremony that was held prior to the scheduled meeting of Old Town Partners on March 5 to dedicate the 37th Walk Through History plaque in honor of the late Philip “Phil” A. Foeller. A surprisingly large gathering turned out despite freezing temperatures. Foeller family members and friends were joined by Sacred Heart parishioners and members of Old Town Partners at the dedication.

Phil Foeller’s grandparents were one of the original German families who established the Sacred Heart Church. Phil grew up on Jefferson Street directly across from the church and attended school there. Phil was a life-long community-oriented resident and businessman of Florissant. He and his wife Rose Marie raised five children in Old Town and founded Florissant Auto Radiator still at 865 N. Lafayette.

Foeller was a United States Army Veteran, he was the 1979 Chamber president, the 1980 Sacred Heart Man of the Year and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Duchesne Council #2951. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his Florissant friends. Phil was proud to say he lived, raised a family, and owned a business in Florissant, the mayor stated.
