Job Skills Taught in Not-For-Profit Run by Disabled McCluer Students

Kenneth Holzapfel, a teacher at McCluer High School, received a $2,500 grant to form a legal not-for-profit catering business that will be owned and operated by McCluer students with disabilities. This extension of the workforce training program for disabled individuals began as a result of a 2012 Gold Star Grant.

The project teaches students business skills and prepares them for jobs in the food-service industry. In addition, it will serve as a fundraising vehicle to acquire a commercial kitchen and continue to expand the business. McCluer High School will also receive $2,500 from Emerson.
