Rams Ready For 2-A-Days; Rage Ready For Title

BY RANDY GARDNER
Rams Training Camp is so close that I can start to feel it in my bones. Camp starts next week for everyone as the grueling, at least I hope grueling two a days will whip these guys into shape and have them ready for their pre-season opener against the Jets which isn’t really all that
far away.

Like I said before, I am totally not sure what to expect and that might be a good thing as the fans have really no high expectations. This is usually when great things happen. It will be a totally different look to the team all the way around. What is really cool about the whole situation is that the fans will get a chance to get up close and personal with the team at training camp at Russell Training Facility in Earth City. Check out the schedule on the Rams website for the do’s and don’ts of camp.

River City Range in 2nd Place

In other football news, the River City Rage pulled out a huge victory this past week in the divisional finals and are now on to the conference title game next weekend on the road. If they win this game, they will move onto the championship game of the league.

The team started out really strong this year with several big wins with several big name players but as the season rolled on several changes took place among front office personnel, player and coaching personnel, as well as many other areas of the organization.

Many were talking that this team was doomed but look what they have done. They are standing at the 2nd highest spot on the mountain right now. This would be the first football championship in St. Louis since the Rams in early 2000. The question on everyone’s mind though that follows this team is will they be back next year.

To jump off the main sports path just for a second, this past week, I had a chance to take my 5-year-old son fishing with my father-in-law. The first 2 or 3 times was a total stress on my nerves as my son threw the bait in and out, in and out, in and out, get the picture, tying up everyone’s lines in the process. After about 10 minutes he was done and would lay his line down and want to leave.

Missing Your Child’s First Fish

The final time of fishing I did not go and my son on the last cast of the day reeled in a 14-inch trout. My father in law said that he was baffled and astounded when he pulled it in on the line. My son was so proud of what he did and I am so sorry that I missed it. This just goes to show you to not take even one minute with your kids for granted because you might miss something huge in their life like I did. Ity haunts me is that I know that I can never get that moment back.

Once again, I touch on this every summer but as I drive there are less and less kids out playing ball or running in the yards or at the park. The newest obesity rates are astounding amongst kids, this has to change or we are going to a generation on very unhealthy kids. Get out there and play with them, take a bike ride or a walk. It’s good for everybody.
