Friday Is Lutheran North Football, Soccer Day In MSHSAA Tourneys

Friday, Nov. 9, is a big day for Lutheran High School North in Football and Boys Soccer in the Missouri State High School Activities Tournaments.
Football puts their Class Two, District Two title on the line with a 7 p.m. district final against Lift For Life Academy, a Charter High School in the St. Louis Soulard Neighborhood. The winner advances to the Nov. 17, 1 p.m. State Quarterfinal against Charleston (at home although Lift For Life has no athletic facilities) or at Caruthersville (where Lutheran North won 64-7 last year).
Boys Soccer makes their first State Semifinal appearance at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton for a 2 p.m. Class One game against Barstow, a 2014 State Champion. At 4 p.m., The Principia, a 2015 State Champion, plays first-time semifinalist Fair.Grove Saturday, Nov. 10, the winners play for the Championship at 4 p.m. while the losers play at 12 noon for third place.
FOOTBALL — Lutheran North is on an eight-game winning streak, shutting out three in a row and five of their last seven, after a 0-3 start. Lift For Life, which played on nine opponents’ fields and two neutral sites, is on a 10-game winning streak after losing at Lutheran St. Charles County on Aug. 24.
In the Oct. 26 Class Two, District Two opener Lutheran North whitewashed winless Grandview (Hillsboro) 83-0 sophomore Chris Childs rushed for three touchdowns while seniors Isaiah Azubuike and Issac Glenn and sophomore Jordan Smith each scored two touchdowns. In the Nov. 2 district semifinal shut out over Duchesne, 68-0, Glenn led the Crusader rushing game (337 yards) with 193 yards and the game’s first four touchdowns (three in the first quarter), Smith passed for two second quarter touchdowns while running for a third-quarter score, and freshman Ali Wells rushed for two more.
BOYS SOCCER — Lutheran North which was on a seven-game losing streak before starting Class One, District One, tallied three second-half goals in both district home wins over Collegiate School of Medicine-Bio-Science, 4-0, and Crossroads College Prep, 4-1. Bypassing the Sectional Lutheran North won the Nov. 3 Quarterfinal at Cole Camp, 2-1 in overtime. Junior Wayea Halloweger scored twice against CSM-Bio-Science and two more against Cole Camp including the overtime-game winner, while senior Tom Xu scored twice against Crossroads.
CLASS TWO STATE BOYS CROSS COUNTRY — On Nov. 3, at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City, senior Issac Stout finished seventh (17:29.86) and senior Secondo Kaka finished 10th (17:43.73).
