Girls Tennis and Golf Districts Begin Oct. 1

High School Girls Tennis and Golf teams begin their road to the Missouri State Championships with districts, which begin on Oct. 1.
GIRLS TENNIS — Hazelwood West hosts Class Two, District Five and competes against Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, McCluer North, McCluer and Ritenour. Class One, District Five will use the McCluer North courts as a host site for North Tech, which competes against Crossroads College Prep, Incarnate Word Academy, Lutheran North, McCluer South-Berkeley and University City.
Team Tournaments, which are best of nine matches of three doubles, and six singles, starts Oct 1 and probably end by Oct. 3. District team champions, both classes, will host Sectional Two, a four-team tourney, Oct. 13 for the right to play in the state championships Oct. 18 at Cooper Tennis Center in Springfield.
Individual Tournaments, which each school sends two singles players and two doubles teams, play after team at host sites through Oct. 7. The singles and doubles finalists, winners and runner ups, advance to a pair of Sectional Threes, around the Oct. 8-10 period, at Francis Howell (Class Two) and Mary Institute-Country Day School (Class One). Sectional winners go to state at Cooper Oct. 19-20.
GIRLS GOLF — Incarnate Word Academy and McCluer North will each head to South County on Oct. 1 to play in Class Two, District Two at Quail Creek Golf Course. The top two teams and the top 15 golfers from teams finishing below second will advance to Class Two, Sectional One, against District One, Oct 8 at Crescent Farms Golf Club in Crescent (near Eureka). The top two Sectional teams and the top 12 golfers from teams finishing lower than second will advance to state on Oct. 15-16 at Swope Memorial Golf Club in Kansas City
If a team finishes lower than second in districts or sectionals and qualifies at least four golfers to sectionals or state the team(s) will qualify for sectionals or state.
SOFTBALL DISTRICTS OCT. 10-13 — Hazelwood West hosts Class Four, District Five while McCluer hosts Class Three, District Five. Hazelwood Central, McCluer North, Parkway Central, Pattonville and Ritenour will be in Class Four, District Five while Trinity Catholic, Riverview Gardens, McCluer South-Berkeley and Jennings are in Class Three, District Five. Incarnate Word Academy is in Class Three, District Four, hosted by Westminster Christian Academy.
Even numbered district winners hosts Sectionals against odd-numbered district winners on Oct. 17. Quarterfinals, at sites to be determined, are Oct 20 while the semifinals, third place and championship games are Oct. 26-27 at Killian Sports Complex, Springfield.
