Spring training! It’s hard to believe that opening day is just a few weeks away. Are you excited about that? When that happens it is almost like the official start of summer has started. Looking at the team early, I think the Cardinals will be in pretty good shape.

Signing a big deal with their new shortstop, 6 years $26 million dollars is a huge investment and everyone is saying Paul Dejong is well worth it.

cards   But like every year, pitching will be key. Cardinal Nation is expecting big things. The team and the fans are not used to not making the playoffs. It hurts not to be in the postseason.

Could this be the year back to October baseball, we’ll see. It is a long season with lots of peaks and valleys, hopefully more ups than downs. I have not been to a spring training game in Florida but it sure would be nice right about now as the weather hasn’t been the best here in St. Louis.

Blues Future Can Still Be Bright

The St. Louis Blues are a story within itself. Like always, they start strong and then just tail off, that is what is happening now. As I write they are in 5th place in their division. With injuries, this team has just fallen apart. Is there enough time to make any kind of run at the postseason? There might be but I don’ t think they can hang with many playoff teams this year. I think that you consider this a rebuilding year and look forward to the future. With a great coach and upcoming players this team still has a bright future.

Basketball Playoff Time

It’s high school basketball playoff time, what a great time of the year for hoops between prep and the college tournaments this weekend Will there be some big upsets, there usually is. If you get a chance get out an experience some of the great action. These high schoolers are almost like watching a college game. The kids are so much bigger and stronger than back when I was in high school. Check your listing for your favorite high school team and head out and support them. There are games during the week and weekend, so no reason to miss one.

New Year’s Resolutions

We are now into March and I would say at least half of the people I have talked to that made New Year’s resolutions of eating right and exercising have quit. It happens every year. If you are still going keep strong. Summer and swimsuit season is just around the corner. Remember it is not about the weight on the scale but about the way you feel and the way your clothes fit. When you are healthy, you just feel better.
