Eagles Have a Shot at Brady and the Patriots

This is shaping up to be one heck of a Super Bowl game in my opinion. The showdown will be between a team that many people think is a dynasty, against an underdog team that has not seen the playoffs in many years. Right now, most are saying that the New England Patriots will blow out the Philadelphia Eagles, but I am not so sure of that.

I think it will be a much closer game than many think. I will give you my opinion on both sides of the ball.

First off for the Patriots, how can you root against a team that always wins and finds a way to win even when their back is against the wall?

Many revert back to saying that the Patriots cheat (remember Rams Super Bowl in 2002), but no matter what is said, the game is still played on the field. If you had to pick one person to lead your team, you know even if you don’t like them, you would pick Tom Brady. I always talk about winning is contagious both in sports and in life and the Patriots are the true meaning of the word.

super bowl lii   It’s funny how everybody wants to be a winner in life but root against people and teams that become winners too often. On the other side of the ball, you have the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that I have learned about the last few weeks through news reports and sports specials, and they have brutal fans.

Philly fans not often sportsman-like

Last week against the Vikings, Eagle fans were throwing bottles and cans at Viking fans in and around the stadium. If you look at the Philadelphia Flyers many years ago, they went into the stands at a hockey game here in St. Louis to fight fans. Then take a look at the Philadelphia Phillies and the fans throwing batteries at the opposing team players in the outfield.

The biggest and most memorable moment has to be when the Eagles fans booed Santa Claus several years ago. Where do you draw the line? I believe it’s awesome to be passionate about your team in your city but when violence is included, it becomes not acceptable.

I am a big fan of former St. Louis Ram Chris Long who is on the Philadelphia Eagles and got a ring last year as a member of the Patroits. He has donated his paychecks for the last year or so to groups in the community. That is an unbelievably unselfish act of kindness.

Like I always do, I will not pick a winner or a loser in this one but just looking at it at first glance, I’ve got to say one team will win and one will lose. That’s the easy way out.

Many NFL playoff games have been very exciting except for the Eagles Vikings game which was a blowout. You see this happen in sports all the time, the Vikings win a big game and act like they have won it all and then come out the next week really flat. I think that’s what happened.

As far as the Jaguars and the Patriots, this was a great game which went down to the wire. That’s what makes sports exciting. I am really curious to see the audience numbers on this year’s Super Bowl. Will they be up or down? Remember the best part of the big game is spending time with your family and friends.
