New Special Effects In Hazelwood’s Fourth of July Fireworks Should Be Crowd Pleasers

hazelwoodLogoThe City of Hazelwood is preparing for another dazzling Fourth of July fireworks display for residents and guests on Tuesday, July 4, at White Birch Park, 1186 Teson Road. The show is scheduled to begin around 9:15 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Firework_photomontageThis year marks the sixth consecutive time that Hazelwood has partnered with J&M Displays, Inc., for its annual pyro-musical fireworks show. Hazelwood’s crowds have never been disappointed with the shows in years past and they have good reason to anticipate another spectacular fireworks display in 2017.

Each year, J&M Displays, Inc., purchases new product to make their shows bigger and better than ever. This year, the company plans to use 4,800 effects in the Hazelwood show – all choreographed to patriotic music. Some of the new additions to the show include alternating green/gold/purple crossettes which are Z-shaped multi-shot units. Other special effects include multi-colored stars and a lot of red/white/ blue shell barrages bursting in the sky. Something that the children will love include whistler rockets and strobbing colored bees with lots of movements in the sky. All of these should be great crowd pleasers.

“We look forward to a beautiful, cloudless night so everyone can see a great choreographed pyro-musical fireworks show in Hazelwood,” said Hazelwood Parks & Recreation Superintendent Doug Littlefield.

As in the past, there is no public parking at White Birch Park, with the exception of a limited number of accessible parking spots. Other parking areas include the following: Armstrong Elementary School; Hazelwood West High School; Howdershell Park; and the Knights of Columbus. Shuttle bus service will be provided for Armstrong Elementary School and Hazelwood West, starting at 7 p.m. Those who park their vehicles at Howdershell Park and Knights of Columbus can walk to the park.

To ensure the safety of all citizens, the City of Hazelwood will be restricting parking on streets which surround White Birch Park. This will allow for safe arrival and departure of pedestrians from the park. The following streets will have signs posted saying, “NO PARKING FROM 6 P.M. TO 11 P.M., on July 4th: Altavia, Dr.; Chula, Dr.; Monte Dr.; Christina Marie Lane; Christina Marie Court; Woodcrest Lane; Nathaniel Court; Amanda Lynn Dr.; Freeland Dr.; and Teson Road.

In the event rain postpones the fireworks display on July 4th, plans are to reschedule for July 5th. For more information on Hazelwood’s Fourth of July fireworks, call the Parks & Recreation Office at (314) 731-0980.
